If you’re planning to bring your pupils to the zoo please take a look at our Activity Sheets. They’re all curriculum relevant for KS2, with a little age-flexibility. You can download these at school and print off those you would like to use. Remember to bring clipboard and pencils.
Durrell is committed to preserving the future of endangered animals. An incredibly important part of this work is raising awareness and educating the next generation of the importance of conservation. Free teaching for Jersey schools thanks to our funders. Jersey schools do not need to book for a visit but teaching bookings must be made at least a week in advance. For other groups, rates for teaching for 2017 are £330 a day. Bookings for overseas must be made and payed for at least 2 months before arrival.
Do you have a wild side? If you have a passion for nature and want a challenge, complete our award and join Durrell’s Wild Tribe! The awards are open to children aged 5-16 years who want to go wild doing fun activities, learning more about the colourful world we live in.

During term-time hours of 09.30 - 16.00 Monday to Friday, schools registered on the gov.je website receive free entry. Outside these hours, normal group bookings and admissions apply.
These schools can also receive free, taught sessions for their students KS1 upwards from a pre-set Jersey School Workshop Menu. Tailored activities can be arranged at the ‘Group Teaching’ rate £330 a day. To book taught sessions, please complete our Jersey School Enquiry Form.
Registered schools are allowed two, free entries to conduct risk assessment, i.e. one teaching staff per visit, up to twice per school year (September - July). To book a risk assessment visit, please complete our Jersey School Enquiry Form.
Adults within the recommended ratio for trips (gov.je) are granted free entry with their group. Normal admissions (see below) apply to any extra adults over this ratio.
One-to-one support staff are permitted in with the school group, providing they are a trained assistant, an education support team member (EST) or a well-being team member (WBT).
In case medical assistant is required a parent may act as a one-to-one.
One to one support staff do not count in the general ratio of the group.
During nursery hours, Cheeky Monkeys children receive free entry and activities from a pre-set programme, as arranged with the Education team.
Under 3s receive free entry; normal group admissions apply for all other ages (see below).
Normal group admissions apply to non-Jersey registered schools and all other clubs and home schools. Groups can receive taught sessions from a pre-set Non-Jersey School Workshop Menu, at the ‘Group Teaching’ rate of £330 a day. There are various picnic benches around the park for school groups to use for snacks and lunches. Please do not consume your own refreshments in the restaurant. If it is raining there are various under cover areas for eating – Orangutan long house, Bears Cloud Forest or the Discovery Centre foyer.
Bags can be dropped off in the school entrance of the Discovery Centre. To guaranty this we recommend you pre-arranged the use of this area before your visit.
Keeper talks: Visit the animals at feeding times by going to a keeper talk. Meet the keepers and learn more about the animals we look after. The schedule are found here.
Science bench: Come see how our field staff monitor wildlife and try it out for yourself. Drop in to the PRP between 10:00 and 12:00.
Durrell Movie: Drop in to watch what is happening in our field programmes around the world. All day in the Discovery Centre.
Gerald Durrell exhibition: See the time line of Gerald Durrell’s life from when he was a young boy on Corfu to setting up Jersey Zoo. Drop in between 11:30 -16:30.
