Durrell Wildlife Camp Awarded Highest AA Rating

The AA has awarded Durrell Wildlife Camp 5 Green Pennants – the highest possible rating in the glamping category.

Inspector Colin Church, who visited Durrell in July, praised the camp for its tremendous attention to detail and exceptional customer service. He says Durrell Wildlife Camp is one of the best glamping sites he has ever inspected.

He added: “From the moment I entered Durrell Wildlife Camp I knew this was going to be something special. The future for glamping is going to be all about improving levels of service and standards and Durrell is certainly at the forefront of this trend. Ashley and his team go out of their way to ensure their guests have a most memorable stay on this wonderful campsite – every family should visit Durrell!”

Set up in 2012, the camp is nestled in the heart of Durrell Wildlife Park. The 12 luxury pods come with their own facilities and offer views of nearby Lemur Lake.

Ashley Mullins, Durrell’s Accommodation Manager says he is extremely proud of this achievement.

“It’s all about the personal touch at Durrell Wildlife Camp. We work very hard to make sure each and every guest has an unforgettable experience. We go out of our way to ensure our guests are happy and our service is second to none. We’re so pleased with our AA rating – it reflects the high levels of customer service and standards that we provide.”

Reviews on social media sites have been consistently favourable, with one Trip Advisor guest commenting: “Glamping at its best! A fantastic week spent in a beautiful setting, which not only relaxes but also educates and keeps the kids amused! Waking up to lemurs and flamingos was wonderful.”

Equipped with all the necessary creature comforts, the pods include a wood burning stove, personal open sun deck, private shower facilities, a separate kitchen, and the unique charm that comes from the beautiful surroundings and sounds of the Wildlife Park.

Guests enjoy free entry to Durrell Wildlife Park for the duration of their stay. Dusk tours, hosted by Durrell’s conservation experts, and unique “behind the scenes” animal experiences can also be arranged.
