Durrell Photographer of the Year 2016

Due to the success of last month’s photography competition, we’re running an even bigger competition with even better prizes, in partnership with Steve Wellum Photography! This time we have four categories to enter, with a single winner being chosen from each. The four winners will receive a prize each and one person will be chosen as ‘Durrell Photographer of the Year 2016’. The competition closes on Friday 30th September.

Photo Categories Summer at Durrell Wildlife Park (Adult Entries 17+): For this category, anything goes as long as it fits the theme of summer! Include photos of our animals, people or the Park’s beautiful scenery. Animal Portraits (Adult Entries 17+): Whether they’re black & white or colour images, we’re looking for beautiful portraits of the animals at Durrell Wildlife Park. Animal Behaviour (Adult Entries 17+): From everyday activities to play fighting with other animals, send us a photo of animal behaviours - the most comical has the best chance of winning! Humorous photo captions are welcome too! Fun at the Park (Juniors Only – 16 & under): Can you snap a great photo of the animals or even you and your friends having a blast at the Park? Prizes: Adult Prizes:

A night at Durrell Wildlife Camp, a one-month feature banner on Durrell Wildlife Park’s Facebook page and a meal for two at our Dodo Restaurant*. A ‘Keeper for a Day’ experience, a one-month feature banner on Durrell’s Twitter page and a meal for two at our Dodo Restaurant*. Behind the scenes with Lee Durrell, a one-month feature banner on Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust’s Facebook page and a meal for two at our Dodo Restaurant*. *Meal for two at Dodo Restaurant: equivalent of £30 per couple. (Park admission not included.)

Junior Prize:

A ‘Meerkat Munch’ experience for up to four people (one must be 18 or over), plus a one-month feature banner on Durrell’s website. Grand Prizes:

One 20x24 inch canvas for the overall winner of the competition. One 20x16 inch mounted print for each of the remaining winners. How to enter Simply email your high resolution photograph to info@durrell.org Please title your photo with your full name and the image category. Up to three images may be entered for each category and you may enter up to three categories (Juniors: one category only). All photos must have been taken at Durrell Wildlife Park.

Junior Category: Please ask your parent/guardian to enter your photo via email, including your name and age.

Judges The judging panel will consist of Dr. Lee Durrell, professional photographer Steve Wellum & Durrell’s Head of Mammals, Dominic Wormell.

Winners Winners will be contacted by a Durrell member of staff a week after the competition’s closing date (30th September) and announced on our Facebook page.

Terms and Conditions Only photos taken at Durrell Wildlife Park are eligible. Up to three photos per person can be entered into each category. All Park subject matter is eligible, but judges will give preference to photos of animals currently on exhibit. The entrant must take all photographs. Photographs may be color or black & white. Judges will disqualify photos with obvious or excessive digital manipulation. Please retain a high resolution digital image. Finalists will be contacted by email by a Durrell representative and will need to submit a high quality image if they haven’t already done so. Please only enter images that haven’t been entered into a Durrell competition previously. Durrell employees and board members are ineligible. Photo Rights & Usage Photographs remain the copyrighted property of the photographer; however, Durrell reserve the non-exclusive right to use the images submitted to the contest for publicity, advertising, promotional, educational, and other purposes without obtaining further permission and/or compensation. Durrell will give credit to the photographer where possible. Sending in your photo constitutes acceptance of these terms.
