Do it for Durrell: it’s our 60th anniversary!
This year, we are delighted to welcome Butterfield Bank for 2019 and 2020 as headline sponsor for the 13K road race and Really Wild Day. Commenting on their sponsorship, Noel McLaughlin, Chief Operating Officer at Butterfield Bank (Jersey) Limited, said: “We are delighted to support Durrell with its 13K road race and Really Wild Day for 2019 and 2020. Both are fantastic events, which raise money for such a worthy cause. Durrell does excellent work restoring and conserving species not just in Jersey, but around the world. At Butterfield, we are committed to supporting the communities and environments we call home. We look forward to working with Durrell for the next two years.”
Taking place on Sunday 12th May, the race will once again start in Victoria Park, St. Helier and finish at Jersey Zoo. As in previous years the race will take runners on a challenging route through lush valleys and quiet country lanes, with local residents cheering and showing their support along the way. Set yourself a New Year goal: sign up before the end of January to take advantage of the early bird rates.
Runners who register as a VIP 13K runner will commit to raising valuable funds in excess of £1,200 for Durrell and will get the opportunity to enjoy a welcome drink and light buffet, as well as the chance to meet and have a scheduled photograph with Durrell Ambassador Henry Cavill. While Henry has pledged his support for The Durrell Challenge and will do his best to attend on the day, the organisers of the event cannot guarantee that he will be present.
After the race, runners and members of the public are invited to Jersey Zoo for the Butterfield ‘Really Wild Day’, where they can head back to nature and take part in activities that will engage their wild side. ‘Mission Possible’, a fun new adventure sponsored by Appleby, is aimed at mini super agents aged 10 and under. Young adventurers will be tasked to complete an important mission for Durrell, where they will need to solve clues to save some of Jersey Zoo’s most threatened species.
Tickets for the Really Wild Day and Mission Possible will be available soon.
