Income Support tickets to make Jersey Zoo more accessible for Islanders

Monday 2 February 2026

Jersey Zoo has launched another initiative to make visiting the site more accessible for islanders. A new Income Support ticket has been created at the reduced price of £6 per person to support those who may find cost a major barrier to visiting the zoo.

This initiative aligns with several other leading zoos across the UK, including London Zoo, Edinburgh Zoo and Chester Zoo, which have successfully introduced similar tickets to ensure their sites remain inclusive to all members of the community.

The offer is available to those who are actively in receipt of Income Support benefit and can provide proof of this upon arrival. Tickets are available to purchase online only, following feedback from several organisations with similar schemes, who noted that customers preferred the privacy and convenience of ordering tickets in advance.

In developing this scheme, the zoo has worked closely with Local Services and community organisations to ensure the process is as seamless as possible for islanders. Talking about this initiative, Head of Retail and Visitor Experience, Terry Woodhouse, commented:

“We want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy a fantastic day out at Jersey Zoo, reconnect with nature, learn about Durrell, and support us in our mission of saving species from extinction. Our newly introduced Income Support ticket, developed in collaboration with local services and inspired by successful models across the UK, will go a long way in helping make the zoo more accessible to islanders.”
