Dr Rich Young

Director of Conservation Knowledge

After conducting a PhD in wildlife biology, and working on conservation projects in Europe and Africa, Rich joined Durrell in 2005 to help develop the Trust’s scientific work. He is now Director of Conservation Knowledge, leading the Science, Effectiveness, Training and Learning teams. The department enables the delivery of evidenced-based and adaptively-managed field and zoo conservation programmes and leads on impact measurement across Durrell. They run an international conservation training programme from Durrell’s Academy in Jersey, and on the ground in Mauritius and Madagascar, plus nature connection and conservation education activities in Jersey Zoo and beyond.
