Our Commitment to a Safe and Respectful Environment

Durrell's work depends on trust, respect and care for the species in our care and in the wild, as well as for the people, communities and environments with which we work.

We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for employees, volunteers, students, trustees, visitors, partners and members of the public. We expect everyone representing or working with Durrell to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and respect. We will not tolerate bullying, harassment, discrimination, victimisation or other behaviour that conflicts with our values.

Durrell expects visitors, members, donors, suppliers, contractors and other third parties interacting with Durrell to behave in a respectful manner. Behaviour that is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, bullying, harassing or otherwise unacceptable may result in action being taken, including restricting or withdrawing access to Durrell sites, activities, services or events where appropriate.

Concerns will be taken seriously and considered on a case-by-case basis. Where reasonably practicable and proportionate to do so, Durrell will take appropriate steps to prevent, address and respond to unacceptable conduct.

We all share responsibility for creating an environment where people feel safe, respected and able to contribute positively to Durrell’s mission.

Safeguarding

At Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust we’re committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who engages with us, including visitors, staff, volunteers, and especially children, young people and adults at risk.

As an international conservation charity with a public facing zoo in Jersey, we take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously and strive to promote the welfare of all individuals who come into contact with our work.

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility. Whether you’re visiting us for the day, supporting our conservation work or volunteering your time – we all have a role to play in ensuring a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
