The Durrell Challenge returns for 2020
The event organisers are delighted to have the support of Butterfield Bank as headline sponsor for the 13K road race and Really Wild Day. Commenting on their sponsorship, Noel McLaughlin, Managing Director at Butterfield Bank (Jersey) Limited, said: “We are thrilled to once again be supporting the popular Durrell Challenge 13K and Really Wild Day, which both raise funds for such a worthy cause. At Butterfield we are committed to supporting the communities and environments we call home, so it has been wonderful to work with the Durrell team, who are dedicated to protecting the incredible wildlife and amazing landscapes that make up the natural world.”
Taking place on Sunday 17 May, the Durrell Challenge will start in Victoria Park, St. Helier, and finish at Jersey Zoo in Trinity. As in previous years the race will take runners on a challenging route through beautiful valleys and quiet country lanes, with spectators showing their support along the way. Set yourself a New Year goal: sign up before the end of February to take advantage of the early bird rates!
Runners who register as a VIP will commit to raising a minimum of £1,200 for Durrell and will get the opportunity to enjoy a welcome drink and light buffet, as well as the chance to meet Durrell Ambassador Henry Cavill for a scheduled photograph. While Henry has pledged his support for the Durrell Challenge and will do his best to attend on the day, the event organisers cannot guarantee that he will be present.
After the race, runners, their loved ones, and members of the public are invited to take a walk on the wild side at Jersey Zoo’s Really Wild Day, where there will be fun-filled activities, delicious food and drink, and a new adventure for children under the age of 10, kindly sponsored by Appleby.
