Extinct animals to roam across Jersey Zoo this summer

A brand-new trail is coming to Jersey Zoo this summer, featuring 20 extinct animal sculptures made out of colourful toy bricks.
From 17 July to 31 August visitors can come face-to-face with some of the fascinating creatures that used to roam our planet, including a 3.5-metre-tall woolly mammoth, a hissing titanoboa and a giganthopithecus.
Guests to Jersey Zoo can also help build a custom sculpture for Jersey Zoo. Designed in collaboration with local artist Lauren Radley, throughout the summer, visitors to the site can purchase a brick to help complete one of Lauren’s famous prints.
The dodo, the most synonymous extinct animal with Durrell will also make an appearance. Featuring throughout the trail, there will also be the opportunity for one lucky visitor to take this sculpture home. Raffle tickets are available to purchase at the Jersey Zoo Visitor Centre, gift shop and charity shop for £5.
Head of Retail and Customer Experience at Jersey Zoo, Terry Woodhouse said about the trail: “I am like a kid at Christmas, and so excited to see this trail come together. This is a really unique trail, with a strong link to our conservation efforts and the importance of saving species from extinction. We have already had lots of excited visitors, watching the models get built which is what we hoped to achieve from this event. Please come and see the trail for yourself and enjoy all that Jersey Zoo has to offer over the summer.”
