Durrell Dasher: Join the festive fun run!
Islanders over the age of 13 can sign up for the scenic 6km run through the lanes of Trinity. Spaces are limited to just 240, so the event organisers are encouraging runners to sign up quickly to avoid disappointment.
Also brand-new for this year is the Virtual Dasher – a 6km run that is open to people of all ages, whether in Jersey or across the globe, to get involved too and help raise funds for Durrell.
Alexandra Shears, Durrell’s Director of Communications and Fundraising, says, “We are really excited to be able to offer a new virtual element to our event this year, thanks to the kind support of our sponsor, Rathbones. We would love to see families, teams and individuals taking part and embracing the festive theme. Special prizes will be awarded to the highest fundraiser and the best-dressed Dashers, so be sure to wear your favourite Christmas jumper, reindeer antlers, or even dress up as an animal from Jersey Zoo!”
Commenting on their ongoing support, Phil Bain, Deputy Managing Director of Rathbones, says, “Durrell does such important work, both here in Jersey and all over the world, so we are delighted to be able to continue our support for the charity at their winter running event. We look forward to seeing islanders and runners across the globe taking part in this festive fun run.”
Organised by 3D Events team, the Durrell Dasher race is a safe, community event that will operate in waves of 40 runners, split into 30-minute intervals in order to comply with Government Guidelines. The 6km run will still be a managed road race, but will also include a number of safety precautions to ensure that any risks associated with the spread of COVID-19 are mitigated.
Runners can sign up for the Durrell Dasher and Virtual Dasher here. Registration closes at midday on Monday 30th November. More info: www.durrell.org/events
Upon registration, participants are encouraged to set up their own fundraising page to help raise funds for the care of the animals at Jersey Zoo and Durrell’s global conservation efforts to create a future where wildlife can thrive.
