Durrell website wins prestigious award
Durrell.org has won the Best Use of New Media award at the annual Chartered Institute of Marketing awards ceremony in Jersey. The award recognises the site for its marketing excellence following its launch last September.
BlueBox Creative, the agency who developed the site for Durrell, are delighted the website has been recognised in this way. With five hundred people in attendance, the award ceremony at the Hotel de France in Jersey is the largest CIM event of its kind in the western world.
Caron Glover, Durrell's PR and Website Manager described the award as a true gauge of its quality: "BlueBox Creative is only a small company and yet the standard of their work is exemplary. From the moment the new website was launched, in 2007, it's gone from strength to strength. In this current financial climate, it is essential we have a shop-window to the world that accurately represents the quality of the work that goes on here at the Trust, saving species from extinction."
With measurability being a key component of all marketing strategies, the figures for the website's first year of online activity spoke for themselves: a 300% increase in visitor numbers, totalling nearly 750,000 a year; a five-fold increase in shop income; donations and memberships up around 100% and adoptions up over 2500%. New potential markets, such as North America, were also identified through visitor statistics previously unknown to the Trust.
Caron Glover added: "I hope the last twelve months are a good indication of how the website will continue to develop and grow. If we can increase our online activity, it means we are reaching more people and helping spread awareness of the Trust's work, while generating much needed funds to support Durrell right now and in the future."
The Trust was also acknowledged for the successful launch of the 50th anniversary campaign brand, It's Time!, which was short-listed in the Best Brand Campaign category.
