Description

Get your wellies on for this amazing opportunity to be animal keeper
for a day. From cleaning their enclosures to helping feed them, this
experience offers a unique way of getting to know our animals and the exciting work our keepers do. Keeper for a day provides a unique and memorable gift.

What to expect

• 

  Work alongside our experienced animal keepers on their daily routine from 8.30am to 4.30pm (finish may be earlier during the winter)
• Help clean out the animal enclosures
• Prepare the animals’ food and help feed them
• See behind the scenes in different animal homes
• Find out how we keep our animals stimulated
• Get a unique insight into the lives of our exotic animals here in Jersey
• Develop your understanding of how the work we do here links to the conservation of threatened species in the wild
• Take home a ‘Keeper for a Day’ pack which includes a T-shirt and other mementos of your time with us

Tea/ coffee breaks will be included. Bring along a packed lunch or take advantage of the café on-site for lunch.

Please note that hands-on contact with the animals is kept to a minimum to avoid changing their natural behaviour. However, we do have some species you can get closer to, including a range of reptiles!

We will use the details you enter during the purchasing process to contact you about the experience.

After purchasing you will receive a Keeper for a Day pack, which includes a DVD that provides a preview of your experience and other Durrell videos.

Please note

• At least 4-6 weeks are needed between booking and the desired date
• Proximity and contact with the animals is up to the keeper’s discretion on the day
• Your visit may be altered at short notice should animal welfare concerns be raised
• Certain areas of the animal routine may be excluded in line with Health and Safety
• Must be 18 yearls old or over
• Animal contact will not be permitted as these are wild animals and your safety is important
• Whilst we will endeavour to meet your requests, the animal departments visited on your KFAD are subject to availability
• When you arrange your KFAD experience, we will require at least 4 weeks notice
• Cancellation with less than 7 days notice will result in your money being lost
• The ‘Keeper for a Day’ package is valid for 12 calendar months from the date of purchase
