Conservation Science Summer School

This 3-day course is an ideal introduction to wildlife conservation. The varied programme includes talks from our expert staff, practical activities and the chance to learn more about what happens behind the scenes at Durrell.

Who should take part?
GCSE and A-Level students considering degrees or careers in conservation,
ecology, wildlife management or similar related fields.

An interest in wildlife and conservation is essential!

What is Conservation Science Summer School?
A unique opportunity to study Durrell’s animals, take part in practical
challenges and learn about the
conservation work undertaken here at the Trust’s headquarters and overseas.

What will I do?

• Learn more about Durrell’s primates from our expert staff and your own behavioural study.
• Further your understanding of captive wildlife management, including studbooks, genetic management, animal welfare and the role of enrichment.
• Develop your skills in recognising and recording animal behaviour, analysing data and presenting your findings.
• Make use of computer skills, presentation skills and research skills as well as working independently and as part of a team.
• Receive a certificate on completion of the course for your record of achievement.

3 days (Tuesday - Thursday)
9.00am-5.00pm

How much will it cost?
Course: £130*
Accommodation: £37 per day (half board on site)
*Non-members need to pay entry fee each day or take out membership for unlimited entry to the site
