Description
This 17.5cm x 22.5 beautiful print of a Mauritius Kestrel has been done by local wildlife artist and durrell staff member Monique Le Monnier. It comes mounted and wrapped in cellophane.
In 1974 only four kestrels were known to exist in the wild, which made it the world’s rarest bird. Today over 800 fly free – The species is off the critical list. Captive breeding and intensive management of wild birds over the last 25 years have saved the kestrel. The kestrel is out of immediate danger, but the population is still monitored, to give advance warning of any new problems.
