Leo Pichardo loves nature, photography, the Dominican people, his family and Bonsais. As well as being a professional architect he is also the president of the Dominican Republic Bosai Society.
This photograph was taken in the south half of the island in a place known as "Puerto Alejandro", a dry, hot place with spiny vegetation. This bird is one of the two species of 'Tody' native to this region; it is easily identified by by it's small size, red throat, and green back.
