Journey Round St Helier is the third in Robin Pittman's Journey series, his first being Journey Round Jersey (2005) and the second Journey Across Jersey (2007). In this book he takes six walks, all of them beginning in and fanning out from the Royal Square, with buildings noted and many people, living and working in the town, some prominent and some less so, encountered and engaged in conversation.
Simon Crowcroft, Connetable of St Helier, writes in his forward: 'Robin Pittman's latest book....takes its place in the long and varied bibliography of travel writing about the Channel Islands and provides a useful addition to it...As our guide pursues his half-dozen walks we are shown the juxtaposition of the old and the new, both in terms of the built fabric and in the human encounters that provide the backbone of the author's accounts...One of the pleasures of this book is that it reminds us of the majority of architectural delights that St Helier still affords to the walker'.
