You could say that doing a 10,000ft tandem skydive for Durrell is taking fundraising to the limits.
In 2008, a group of Durrell supporters including staff dressed as endangered species and tried this adrenalin fuelled experience for themselves raising over £6000 between them. All of them wanted to do it again as it was such good fun!
A Tandem skydive is the popular freefall experience. After a short training session, you would board the plane with your instructor, to be taken 2 miles up to 10,000Ft. Securely attached, the two of you will then exit the plane, and reach speeds of 130mph for 30 seconds, after an exhilarating freefall, your instructor then deploys the parachute. An 8 minute parachute ride then follows, taking in the scenic views, before landing on the beach.
Skydives are available worldwide. For skydives in Jersey visit www.skydivejersey.net or call Mally on (01534) 747410 for more details. Fees for skydives in aid of Durrell will receive a 10% discount.
