The judges were; Dr Lee Durrell, Honorary Director of the Trust, Gregory Guida a renowned wildlife photographer, and John Nasey, chairman of Jersey photographic club. The images were viewed with relation to the categories of Biodiversity, Ecological Connectivity, Invasive Alien Species and Endangered Species. A short list of 15 images was compiled and from these a ‘judges selection’ will be printed and exhibited here at Durrell Wildlife Park and also in the Arrivals Hall at Jersey Airport.
The competition has attracted a variety of subject matter and interpretation of the categories. It has been a truly international contest with photographers submitting work from South Africa, Canada, Portugal, Greece and the UK.
There will be an exhibition at Jersey Airport of the ten successful entries. They are technically high quality photographs, well composed and reflecting the conservation themes of biodiversity, ecological connectivity, invasive alien species and endangered species. The judges made the selection carefully considering all of these aspects.
The following photographs will be displayed in the Arrivals Hall at Jersey Airport from 6th March until mid April and then subsequently at Durrell Wildlife Park in Jersey at the start of April for two months. The successful photographers are invited to the exhibition opening at the end of April and also a complimentary guided tour of the Wildlife Park.
