
Bluey the Poison Dart Frog
Bluey is a striking little amphibian,and as his
name suggests, is both blue and poisonous!
Dobby, the pied tamarin - Dobby was born as one of a set of triplets, which is a phenomenon in captive breeding and is probably thanks to the highly
nutritious diet fed to the animals at Durrell.

Nelson, the slender tailed meerkat - Nelson arrived in Jersey with his family in 1999 to play an important role in captive breeding as a conservation
tool to save species. Nelson is a friendly, good
natured meerkat and a fantastic father.
Bandro, the Alaotran gentle lemur - Bandro is a lovely lemur who adores meal times! She is an
extremely good mother and has produced seven
offspring since arriving in Jersey.
Gerald Durrell described these lemurs as
“honey-coloured teddy bears”.
Bintang, the Oriental short clawed otter
Bintang arrived at Durrell in 2006 and shares her
wonderful waterfall enclosure with her mate Bulan.
Condo, the Sulawesi crested black macaque
Condo was born at Perth Zoo in 1986 and has been
in Jersey since 1996. He is the dominant male of the
group here.
Freya, the Chilean flamingo
Freya is a fine looking bird.
She struts around fluffing up her feathers and
constantly preens herself.
George, the radiated tortoise
George is rather a grand gentleman at over
100 years old. George was born in the wild and
came to Jersey from Madagascar in 1976.
Homer, the wrinkled hornbill
Homer is a beautiful, majestic bird who came to
Jersey in 2001. He is an expert at juggling fruit,
Jaya, the Sumatran orangutan
Jaya made national headlines in 2004 by being born
by emergency caesarean section – he weighed only 1.86kg!
Merlin, the Livingstone’s fruit bat
Merlin really is a magic bat! He is a very inquisitive
creature and loves all the attention he gets from the
staff and visitors.
