Born in Ghana, to a father who was a Conservator of Forests, plants and animals were part of Chris's daily life from an early age.
Schooled in Taunton, Chris read Geography at Queen Mary College, London. It was then that Chris faced his first major choice, whether to follow his love of nature or enter the corporate world.
Chris grew to love the business world and rapidly moved from junior, to executive to manager, to director, to chairman. However, despite his professional successes his passion for the outside world grew.
Both passions resulted in improvements in both his professional and private life; 'my corporate work intensified my interests and my interests made me a better worker'.
Having achieved what he wanted to achieve in the business world, Chris decided it was time to put his management and Board experience to use in a new sphere, hence his involvement with Durrell.
