Trust President Robin Rumboll was born in Argentina, where he first met Gerald Durrell in 1954. In 1965, after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, he moved to Jersey since when he has been an active member of Durrell having been both Honorary Treasurer and then Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
In 2002 Robin was appointed President of the Trust, a key role of which is chairing the Trust's Annual General Meetings. Robin retired as a senior partner in Coopers & Lybrand in 1986 when he was elected to the Island’s government, the States of Jersey, where he held various positions. Following his retirement from politics he was appointed Chairman of the Jersey Police Authority, and currently holds non-executive roles with a number of international banking and investment corporations. Robin has travelled widely and has visited most of Durrell’s overseas conservation projects.
