Jonathan White was elected Chairman of Durrell's Board of Trustees with effect from 1 July 2006. Jonathan was, until 2009, Chairman of Ogier, one of the largest providers of offshore legal and fiduciary services. He remains as a Consultant with Ogier. After qualifying as a Solicitor in England in 1981, Jonathan practiced in Bristol before moving to Jersey the following year. Once there, he sat and passed the English Bar examinations before going on to qualify as a Jersey Advocate.
Jonathan first came into contact with what was then the Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust through his work, and this led to him developing a long-term interest in Durrell and all aspects of its work. In addition to his legal practice, Jonathan has extensive corporate and commercial experience, having served as a director of a number of substantial organisations with interests in a wide range of diversified industries. He is currently Chairman of Jersey Finance Limited. Jonathan lives in Jersey, and has three grown-up children.
