I have recently retired as the proprietor of Midas, one of the UK’s larger, and longest established, fundraising consultancies. As a trustee I am looking for an organisation in which I can be proactive in some capacity and to learn about conservation.
My specific contribution is in assisting in the management of fundraising and capital appeals. I am, arguably, one of the UK’s most experienced capital appeal fundraisers having been involved with about 30 such appeals of various sizes and trained about 100 fundraisers in capital appeal procedure.
I have always had a passion for animals which I could never indulge previously with a hectic lifestyle and international travel. Now I look forward to learning more and hope to attend some of the charity’s training courses.
I offer a broad background in the voluntary sector: for example I have started one of Europe’s largest charities, helped to found 2 fundraising bodies, chaired a chain of 40 charity shops and have been a trustee of 3 other charities. Prior to retiring I was a fellow of the British Institute of Management and the Institute of Financial and Administrative Accountants.
