It's Time for change

29th April 2009

Jersey Cow

This spring, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is launching the ‘It’s Time!...for change’ campaign, to encourage islanders to recycle their Durrell milk cartons, fill them with change and become part of a fundraising effort to save species from extinction during the 50th anniversary year.

With the release of over 250,000 semi skimmed 500ml, blue milk cartons, the Trust is hoping families, adults and children in Jersey will turn their used cartons into money boxes and save all their spare change throughout the summer.

As an added incentive Durrell is offering some fantastic prizes for those that return the most cartons packed to the brim with coins.

“We hope to inspire Jersey’s population to learn more about our work as well as helping to raise much needed funds to help save species from extinction” says Kelly Manuel, Durrell’s Marketing Manager. “This opportunity gives individuals and families the chance to get involved directly by making a different type of donation”.

For participating schools, the class or individuals with the largest amount of money collected in the greatest number of cartons can come up to Durrell and be part of our Orang Gang where they can prepare and provide enrichment to our group of Sumatran Orangutans and get involved in other fun conservation activities.

They will also receive a year’s adoption of Jaya, one of Durrell’s younger orangutans. For adults, you can win a VIP tour at Durrell for the whole family, including a personal introduction to Lee Durrell, an annual family membership and a special goody bag. Further details for the competition are available at 'It's Time'....for change.

There will be drop off points all over the island to make your collecting as easy as possible and these include branches of NatWest, RBS International, Jersey Post and Jersey Tourism. The cartons can be found in all participating stores from the beginning of May until July. The deadline for schools for dropping all their filled cartons off is the end of June and for everyone else is 30th September 2009, so there is no time to waste!

Note: Collections can only be accepted in Durrell’s It’s Time for change semi skimmed 500ml, blue milk cartons.
