Young Conservationist Training Programme

Jersey

Tuesday 16th February - Thursday 18th February

Sakina female gorilla eating GGuida

Do you have a passion for wildlife conservation? Are you interested in a degree or career in this field, but aren’t sure how to stand out from the crowd? Would you just like to know more about what Durrell does to save species from extinction?

If you are 15-18 years old and answered yes to any of these questions, then the Young Conservation Training Programme is for you. This course offers a unique opportunity to study Durrell’s animals, take part in practical challenges and learn about the conservation work undertaken here at the Trust’s headquarters and overseas.

During the course you will learn more about Durrell’s primates from our expert staff and your own behavioural study and further your understanding of captive wildlife management, including studbooks, genetic management, animal welfare and the role of enrichment.

You will develop your skills in recognising and recording animal behaviour, analysing data and presenting your findings through using your computer skills, presentation skills and research skills as well as working independently and as part of a team. On completion of the course, you will receive a certificate for your record of achievement.

If you would like to learn more about the course contact Naomi: naomi.webster@durrell.org or download our flyer and application form for further details.
