Durrell Day

Jersey

Sunday 12th July , 10:00-16:30

Durrel Statue

The whole Island is invited to join us here at Durrell to celebrate our 50th birthday for FREE! Come up to the site and commemorate our time here in Jersey.

The wildlife park will be divided into four zones for the day: Durrell in Jersey, Memory, Conservation and Corfu Zones, where visitors will be able to enjoy a range of experiences and activities, walks and talks, as well as the wide variety of animals and stunning grounds.

The public has been contributing memories and fondest moments from the last fifty years for the Memory Zone exhibition and more will be collected on the day. Following the event, fifty items of special significance from the exhibition will be collated and sealed in a time capsule to be buried in the new Walled Garden development in early September.

Elsewhere on the site, exciting activities for the day include den building, a Genuine Jersey fair, walks and talks with Durrell experts and Greek themed food and drink in celebration of Gerald Durrell’s childhood home, Corfu.

Connex has kindly offered relief services in the morning from Liberation station (route 23 which is the most direct between St Helier and Durrell via Five Oaks) and from Durrell in the afternoon with the usual fare band (£1.00 or £1.50). There are also the Island Explorer GREEN and YELLLOW services.

For further details about bus times and services, please contact the Information Office at Liberation Station, telephone: 877 772.

There is plenty of free parking and heaps going on. Durrell Day is supported by Jersey Tourism and Appleby.
