Hundreds Dash for Durrell
20th October 2009
Around 350 people sweated it out last Sunday in the second Durrell Dash, raising nearly £4000 for the Trust in the anniversary year.
Daniel Hawksworth won the 13 kilometre race in just 40 minutes and 31 seconds. The first lady past the post was Jo Gorrod in just 43 minutes and 24 seconds.
The course started in Durrell’s car park and toured through three of parishes in the north-east of Jersey, until the last few kilometres, which snaked through the beautiful grounds of the Trust and finishing in front of Les Augres Manor.
Jersey Telecom entered into the spirit of the event, by entering a team dressed in animal-themed outfits and raised money within the organisation, after making Durrell their charity of choice for 2009.
All the entrants received a goody-bag provided by Durrell and Wheways. Durrell’s CEO, Paul Masterton, who handed out prizes to the race winners, said, “We are delighted that so many of the community turned out once again to run for Durrell and raise much needed funds for us in our 50th year.”
